Science Results Shine!
Posted on: 02/09/2015
GCSE results in Science at Whitefield School hit a new peak in August 2015 with 100% of Triple Science students achieving good passes (C grade or higher) in Biology and Physics and 93% passing Chemistry. Of particular note were the large numbers of top grades, with Hamdani Bin Wan Mohd Azmi achieving three A*s, Ilham Ibrahim, Lydia Tutton and Paria Malekahmadi achieving A*A*A. Several other students got As and Bs. More students than ever before were entered for Core and Additional Science. Some students who had only joined the school recently and were new to English made excellent progress to pass Core Science GCSE, including Nela Reslerova and Dhilber Kalluvetti Parambath.
Our new Year 11 students are making excellent progress towards surpassing this success in the coming summer. This year for the first time we are entering a small group of students for Further Additional Science, and as last year all Year 11 students are expected to take at least Core Science. To support students in this we provide CPG workbooks that are tailored for the AQA syllabus that we use. Teachers will use these for setting home learning, but students can also use them to get ahead and extend their understanding. Students are also strongly encouraged to buy revision guides to support in the home learning and exam practice. Students are reminded that their first ISA Drop Down Day will be Thursday 26th November and this will be a fantastic chance for students to secure marks making up to 25% of their Science GCSE. Students should also check the revision timetable to find out when weekly after school revision lessons happen with their teacher.
