Jack Petchey’s Speak Out Challenge!
On the 8th of January 2016, 24 students from Year 10 took part in the world’s biggest youth speaking event: Jack Petchey’s “Speak Out” Challenge. The Jack Petchey Foundation wants to encourage young people to believe in themselves, to stand up, to speak out and to make a difference to our world. The students spent the day with an external trainer completing numerous speaking activities which lead them to delivering a 2 minute speech on a subject of their choice. This includes a competition element for one student to have the chance to represent Whitefield School at the regional finals in Barnet. Seeing their confidence grow was an amazing achievement for our students and the winner of the competition was Krystal who will compete with 21 other schools across the borough of Barnet on the 26th of January 2016. The English department couldn’t be prouder!
