Continuing outstanding high grade pass rates for students at Whitefield Sixth Form

17 August 2017

Staff and students at Whitefield School 6th Form are celebrating yet another successful year for A Level and Vocational results.

A strong performance by students in Year 13 saw the percentage of A2 Level passes at grades A*-B at an impressive 41% and passes at A*-C at 58%.  Year 13 students are currently confirming their offers and accepting their places at Universities, with many being accepted into top Russell Group Universities due to their amazing achievements.

High-performing students who deserve a special mention at A2 level include Lydia Tutton (Biology – A, Geography – A & Chemistry – B), Nathan Mann (Eng Lit / Lang – A, Government & Politics – B & Media Studies – B), Ali Hassan (Art – B, Media Studies – B, Performing Arts - Dist*), Ellie Reidy (Media Studies – A, Music – Dist & Performing Arts – Dist), Jericho Mag-Iba (Product Design – C, Media Studies – B, IT - Dist*), Nela Reslerova (Art – C, Media Studies – B & Performing Arts - Dist*), Bartosz Struzyna (English – C, Media Studies – B & Performing Arts - Dist*) and Stephanie Sy-Siong (Maths – B, Geography – B & History – C)

Academic Subjects at A2 Level that achieved particularly good results this year include Art, Biology, Chemistry, English, Maths, Geography and Media. Vocational subjects to highlight are  ICT Cambridge Technicals, BTEC Performing Arts and BTEC Business Studies who performed exceptionally well with nearly all students gaining a Distinction* or Distinction.

In addition to these excellent results for our 6th form students a mention must be made to several of our Year10 and Year11 students who obtained A grades in  AS & A2 Community Languages. These include Muntazar Al Ashbal (AS Arabic – A), Nikita Shepelev (AS Russian – A) and Anastasiya Romanets (A2 Russian – A).

Some lovely quotes from our successful 6th Form students on results day include:

‘I was so nervous about results days. I’m happy I will be going to London City to study Biomedical engineering.  Advice I would give to students is don’t take your education for granted. I’ll miss a lot of things about Whitefield especially the staff and support.’ – Abdi Ali

‘I’m really happy about my results. Pleasantly surprised. I joined Whitefield in the beginning of Year 12, I arrived in London 5 years ago not speaking any English. Whitefield is a really cosy and friendly environment and the teachers and students were really welcoming and so helpful.

I am going to Greenwich to study Business with Italian which includes a year study in Italy.

I am very excited to experience the University environment, I will be moving out of my family home and I am eager to be independent I feel Whitefield has helped me prepare for this, although I am sure there will be challenges.

I will miss Whitefield, I will miss the very special friendships I have made which I can call part of my family now. I will miss the staff who were always available and always helpful when supporting me reach my goals.’ – Kaotar Alijate

‘I will miss Whitefield friends and teachers. I arrived at Whitefield in Year 10 and was pretty lucky to come here as it was very welcoming. The staff are great and friendly, and I was really welcomed having come from Iran. Thanks to Whitefield and I’m now going to Brunel University and I am fully equipped and am going to be a superstar.’ – Daniel Rashtchizadeh

‘I came to whitefield in year 7 not speaking a single word of English yet with support of staff and teachers I managed to get a place at the University of Kent to study Criminology.’ – Sarshar Darzi

‘I am so happy that I was able to get accepted to my firm choice at Brunel. My advice to others doing their A-levels would to not leave things until the last minute and have better time management in order to be able to get on top of things such as coursework and revision. This will be beneficial as it will reduce your stress and won’t leave you in panic a day before the exam.

Throughout my 4 years here at Whitefield I am thankful for all the help and support from my teachers. Without them I would not be able to fulfil my true potential.’ – Jericho Mag-Iba

These fabulous results reflect the dedication of staff and students at Whitefield School plus the ongoing support of our supportive parents. We look forward to welcoming and preparing the next intake of students into our expanding Sixth Form who we know will have equally high aspirations and will go on to achieve excellent results once again next year!
