Geography Trip to Peak District March 2016
Posted on: 14/03/2016
GCSE Geographers travelled from Whitefield School to the Peak District last week (Thursday 10th- Saturday 12th March) as part of their controlled assessment (25% of the total mark). As well as a day of fieldwork they also spent time visiting the upper Derwent reservoir and Blue John Cavern.
For the fieldwork element of their controlled assessment they focused on the impacts of tourism in four locations; Bakewell, Edale, Bradwell and Castleton. Students developed their fieldwork collection techniques, excellent preparation for A Level Geography. One of the tasks was interviewing the general public which they excelled at. This information will give them lots of evidence so that they can prove or disprove their hypotheses on the impacts of tourism.
Well done to all the GCSE Geographers, and best of luck with the write up as part of your controlled assessment.
