Increase in attainment and progress for students in Year 11 at Whitefield School
25 August 2016
Students in Year 11 have outperformed last year’s results with 50% of students attaining an A*-C grade in English and Maths. What is outstanding is the new Progress 8 measure with a score of 0.522 which is significantly above national results and an increase from last year’s score of 0.302.
Special mention must be made of the following Year 11 students for their outstanding academic results. These results put Whitefield students amongst the highest achieving students in the country: Alicia Dos Santos 9 A*/A grades and 4 Bs, Chandrika Darbari 9 A*/A grades and 1 B, Abir Hassan 8 A*/A grades 4 Bs and a C, Mahdi Alziaylee 7A*/A grades 3 Bs and 3 Cs and Anosh Samadzadeh 7 A*/A grades and 5 Bs.
The flexibility offered for students at Whitefield to study for a qualification for an extra GCSE and even A Level subjects in their home language is a unique strength of the school with over half the students achieving an A*/A grade. 11 students have also achieved A*, A or B passes in a Community Language A Level.
Whitefield offers a unique Key Stage 4 curriculum which allows students to take some optional GCSEs qualifications early in Years 9 and 10. Results for these early entries have been really pleasing, with many students getting straight A*/A grade passes.
Getting these GCSE passes in Years 9 and 10 will allow our students to focus on fewer subjects in Year 11 and will lead to increased results in future years.
Headteacher, Elizabeth Rymer said “I am delighted that the hard work so many of our students have put into their studies has paid off with some truly amazing examination results this year. I know that all the staff and Governors of the school will want to say a massive congratulations to all students on their results and join with me in wishing students the best of luck with their next steps within education whether it be at Whitefield, other colleges or abroad.”
More details of individual students’ successes, whole school totals and particular subject successes will be posted on the website as soon as the final figures and remarks are confirmed.
