School Open Tuesday 5th October
Posted on: 04/10/2021
Monday 4 October at 14.30pm
The electricity was finally restored at 02.45am this morning. My caretaking staff and IT staff have been working since early this morning to turn back on all the IT and facilities. So far, so good. The power across the site has remained stable as more and more items have been switched back on. And importantly, all necessary health and safety checks have now been undertaken.
So I am delighted to say we will be open as normal on Tuesday 5 October. It will be a week one.
At present, there are still large open trenches across the front of school. U.K. Power Network will be filling these in as soon as they are sure there will be no further faults. The trenches are currently surrounded by safety barriers but this is blocking the access to the site. No parents will be able to drive on to the site on Tuesday morning, possibly Tuesday afternoon and even on into the week. SEND buses will be directed to drop off outside the new ASC building at the rear of the site.
We will be bringing all students onto the site via the new pedestrian gate on Claremont Road (years 7, 8, 10 and 11) and the back gate in Marble Drive (years 9, 12 and 13). Staff will be on duty to ensure a safe arrival and dismissal until all the electricity works have been completed.
Please ensure all students take a LFD test before coming back onsite.
I look forward to welcoming all students back onsite tomorrow.
Thank you for your understanding and your ongoing support.
Mrs Elizabeth Rymer
