This week various students from years 7, 8 and 9 will participate in BIKEABILITY.
"Bikeability has been developed by Cycling England with a range of partners. It is endorsed by the DfT because cycling plays a key role within an integrated transport strategy, especially for shorter journeys to work and school. It is supported by the Department of Health (DH) because cycling offers an easy, convenient form of exercise that can be built into our everyday lives and can deliver significant health benefits for people of all ages. It is supported by DfES because cycling to school is one of the easiest ways for our children to lead more active and healthier lives; by the Department for the Environment and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) because cycling is as good for the environment (especially) the air quality of our towns & cities) as it is for our health; and by the Department of Media, Culture and Sport (DCMS) because cycling is an ‘everyday sport’ that can be taken up by everyone, producing a fitter, healthier nation and the champions of the future."
