Year 6 Spring Term

Year 6 Spring Term

We have a well-established programme which makes the transition from primary to secondary school as smooth as possible. Students from many local primary schools come to visit us for events such as our STEM DStudents are very proud of their school. They enjoy coming to school and they behave well.  They want to learn and they work hard in lessons.    Ofsted 2014 ay (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), school show and ‘booster’ classes (Maths and English). In the Spring Term we begin the process of Primary Transfer with a series of visits to the primary schools to talk to class teachers about each student coming in September in order to build up a full picture of their needs and strengths in the immediate months of arrival. This also gives us an opportunity to talk to the students themselves and answer any questions they might have. Students from primary schools are also invited to our ‘friendship afternoons’ where they sample taster lessons and get the ‘feel’ of their new school before starting in September. Whitefield’s ethos of ‘live, learn, aspire, achieve’ permeates the work of the school. Pupils, irrespective of when they start at the school, are welcomed warmly and supported to make good progress from their starting points.    Ofsted 2017
